I have always loved cities and find myself constantly drawn to their colour, vibrancy and energy - they are both infectious and consuming. They are full of intricate details and boldness, of light and dark and, most importantly, are constantly evolving. For me they take on a special atmosphere and excitement at night and I love trying to capture the lights and movement of a city after dark. New York (NY) and London (LON) are arguably two of the greatest cities in the world and provide a fascinating and exciting backdrop for my paintings. It is my hope as an artist to capture a part of their unique atmosphere on canvas and to spark memories, associations and aspirations of these fantastic cities for you.

Painted with expressive use of colour, I use iconic imagery and notable landmarks to set the scene - immediately transporting the viewer to New York and London after dark. With its dazzling lights and neon expanses my paintings are full of activity with the colours and lights screaming for attention. I also try and paint with a sense of ambiguity to allow for individual interpretation and, as cities are always in a state of flux, perceptions of these places will never be identical - that’s the beauty of them.
For me NYLON is a modern day tale of two cities - two places that, despite being thousands of miles apart, beat as one in vibe, rhythm and pace.
