This collection represents some of my fondest childhood memories. Little did
I know that those memories would one day become the inspiration for my art.
As a youngster I was always fascinated by old black and white films, especially those featuring Charlie
Chaplin who was the inspiration for my piece ‘The Entertainer’. From Charlie in this piece, to the
amplifier in ‘Superstar’, to Alice in Wonderland in my favourite piece of the collection ‘Alice’, the
subject matter in this body of work, for me, epitomises the word ‘classic’. As such, these classics have
stayed with me through time and have greatly inspired and influenced my paintings today.
I also find music to be a truly emotive way to connect with someone. We can all recall a song or
piece of music that resonates with us and has the power to evoke emotions so great that we can be
moved to tears or filled with joy, simply by hearing a few bars.
Music is such a powerful medium and I’ve enjoyed combining that with another truly powerful
medium…Art.
